Princeton Health is seeking a Part Time, EveningsMental Health Associate for Princeton House Behavioral Health -  Inpatient Unit, located in Princeton. 

Position Summary: The Mental Health Associate assists the Registered Nurses in providing direct psychiatric and medical care to patients. The Mental Health Associate (MHA) participates as a member of the treatment team in creating and maintaining a safe and therapeutic milieu. This is a direct care staff level position.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Participates as a member of the treatment team to provide individual care to patients based upon psychiatric/ addictions principles through guidance from nursing staff.
  • Assists nurses in the delivery of nursing care, such as bathing, assisting with feeding, ambulating patients, collecting urine samples, and taking vital signs.
  • Performs and records nursing care activities, such as changes in a patient’s condition, behavior, and unusual incidents consistent with established policies, procedures, and protocols, as delegated by the registered nurse responsible for the patient.
  • Performs behavioral observations, completes unit rounds, checks, and monitors patients as assigned.
  • Responsible for orienting patients to the unit, completing patient searches, securing patient’s valuables, and belongings at admission and discharge. 
  • Assists in emergencies and codes according to established protocols. 


All Princeton Health employees are required to receive an annual influenza vaccine unless granted a medical or religious exemption.


- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, in a Social Science preferred

- Valid driver’s license

- First Aid Certification within three (3) months of start date

Weekends, Holidays, and shift work as assigned

- Has a basic knowledge base of psychiatry, chemical dependency, and mental health

- Possesses exemplary assessment, communication, and documentation skills.

- Must be able to function well in a team environment

Pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds- Occasionally 


- Experience in psychiatric and addictions
