The L&D Executive Education, Top Talent, and Leadership Development Instructional Designer is primarily responsible for authoring content into Verizon’s HTML5-based online Learning Albums in partnership with the team’s program managers, subject matter experts, and partner suppliers. The majority of content authoring will include HTML5 instructional design transcription for existing instructor-led classroom trainings, but may also include the creation of new courseware in the Learning Album. The general target audiences for these programs include many levels of employees from frontline supervisors, to mid-managers, top talent, and up to and including senior executives across the Verizon enterprise. The training delivery methods are varied and will involve: Instructor-led classroom, web conferencing, and e-Learning modalities. The primary focus of this role is to take existing training materials and design them to be compliant and leveraged within the newly developed Learning Album for facilitators to deliver as well as for leaders to learn. The Learning Album, a Verizon-built application, is used to author and deliver digital learning content for instructor-led and self-paced training programs. This will require partnering with the L&D Managers responsible for the Programs, close working relationships with the partner suppliers that provide the training, and interface with the L&D Technology team that created and maintains the Learning Album platform. The position requires close management direction and/or supervision.
Key Responsibilities include:
Understanding the Executive Education, Top Talent, and Leadership Development Programs and owners in L&D.
Deep understanding of adult learning theories and techniques and andragogy.
Developing expert knowledge of HTML5 and the Learning Album capabilities.
Leveraging existing Instructional design skills to author content in the Learning Albums to maximize the full functionality to deliver an exceptional learner and facilitator experience.
Building strong relationship with L&D team members and partner suppliers.
Participating in cross-team projects with members of the Executive Education, Top Talent, and Leadership Development L&D teams.
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
ILT instructional design experience in leadership development programming.
Experience authoring content for web applications, blogs, newsletters, e-learning courses, etc.
Basic graphic and/or web design experience.
Experience authoring and managing programs in a content management system (like Wordpress or Drupal).
Experience creating blended learning programs.
Experience in curriculum design for various learning modalities.
Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
Advanced consulting experience.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on-time results.
