The APLL Sr. Account Manager will manage an assigned sales geography with the goals of growing our International Logistics Services (consisting of origin logistics services, deconsolidation and freight forwarding product lines) through face-to-face contact. Candidates should be skilled in identifying target accounts, gaining meetings, developing opportunities, sales negotiating, delivering presentations, and supply-chain logistics. Candidates should also have a deep knowledge of PC-based applications, international supply chain solutions and the underlying information technology that enables global trade.
Accountabilities:
1. Identify potential customers in each line of business.
2. Secure appointments with key middle and senior management to understand current business conditions and future opportunities.
3. Create an approach team to evaluate the business and opportunity
4. Lead the group to develop the customer solution and close business.
5. Provide coaching, leadership and support to customer organizations specific to ILS sectors and to secure and implement new business.
6. Develop and maintain sales territory marketing plan;
* A strategy maintaining or increasing business with each account (existing and potential) in the sales territory
* Meet/exceed account specific and new business budgets by product line; and
* Management of sales leads.
7. Plan and conduct sales calls, including:
* Developing a sales-call plan and call specific objectives and materials
* Conduct face-to-face calls with customers at all levels in their organization and
* Following up on commitments and issues that arise during sales calls.
8. Communicate on customer and competitive developments that relate to assigned sales territory;
* Communicate to other APLL functions and APL business units account specific needs and opportunities
* Gather business intelligence from customers and other sources to identify actions by customers or competitor which could mean a threat or opportunity for APLL, and ensure prompt forwarding of this information to all pertinent individuals in the APLL organization
9. Maintain up-to-date account information including prompt updates of names, address, key contacts, phone and fax numbers in SFA tool Siebel.
10. Lead/Participate in the post sales implementation team, including;
* Coordinating the integration of the team members, and
* Preparation of the account specific Implementation Action Plan with the new customer
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor degree and graduate training are strongly preferred
2. Minimum 5 years of industry experience with 3 years of sales experience.
3. Demonstrated experience in creating and delivering service presentations and closing new business
4. Demonstrated understanding of the northeast international logistics market
5. Computer skills including MSOffice Word, Excel and Powerpoint
