What to Expect
Established to teach the standards of AT&T, NETREX gives newly hired employees the
opportunity to collaborate with project teams and work with one another. The goal of this
strategic program is to enable participants to combine their coursework with the skills and
knowledge essential to gain a broad experience across the AT&T Network Operations
organization. Possible department assignments include: Network Disaster Recovery, Network
Provisioning, Network Operations Center (NOC) and Network Reliability.
This is a full-time, paid position with employee benefits.
Education Requirements
The NETREX team is comprised of entry level graduates with varying Networking,
Engineering and IT skill sets. Recent or future graduates with a BS, BA or Masters degree in
Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Electrical
Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems and Sciences or related field and a
GPA of 3.2 is required. A combination of technical skills such as an understanding of IP
Networks, IT skills, basic networking skills and project management is also necessary. Good
communication and self-motivation skills, along with the ability to be a team player are essential for success in this program.

The NETREX team is comprised of entry level graduates with varying Networking,

Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems and Sciences or related field and a
GPA of 3.2 is required. A combination of technical skills such as an understanding of IP

communication and self-motivation skills, along with the ability to be a team player are essential for success in this program. All applicants will be placed in a full time permanent position with AT&T. The program starts January 23, 2012.
Responsible for the requirements, testing, planning & implementation of new software, hardware & applications relative to new product delivery, systems architecture, process enhancements, infrastructure and security. Provide technical solutions and project management and any/all functions involved in the provisioning, assurance, number administration, inventory, address qualification, and local number portability applications, processes and practices. Participates in software development project activities which may include technical/business requirements and design, and technical writing including Methods & Procedures. May assist in the coordination, evaluation and partnership with technology vendors, outside consultants and internal dotted line resources as needed. Works as part of a 24X7 staff to delivers network technical support to address escalations. Provides the technical troubleshooting and leadership skills required to recover from the most complex network problems in real time to restore service. Identification of root cause, resolution, work arounds, testing & implementation of vendor / IT fixes or design changes. As subject matter experts, works closely with business partners to identify and quantify business issues associated with specific projects, develop and implement business strategy, and assist in setting strategic technical direction in support of customer facing organizations. Review and approve proposed technical systems designs to insure business requirements are met. May assist in providing leadership for projects, including such activities as collaborating with the client to develop business cases, defining business and/or technical requirements and preparing detailed plans and schedules. May lead cross-functional teams on specific issues &/or projects. May review and interpret technical documentation and vendor specifications for inclusion / adaptation into database templates. May perform work at customer location.
Nature of Contribution- Technical professional with limited experience. Primarily completes standard work.
Knowledge - Has basic working knowledge of technical principles and methods within own discipline / specialty area. Integrates basic principles of discipline with processes and procedures to complete own job. Grows current knowledge of AT&T technologies, systems.
Analysis and Problem Solving - Solves non-routine problems by applying limited judgment to select appropriate standard procedures. Articulates and refines identified issues within own area. Analyzes a variety of factors within applicable standards and procedures to develop solution. Reviews structured technical problems and independently selects appropriate methods.
Independence - Follows established policies and procedures; plans work priorities with guidance from superiors. Works on assignments of limited scope and limited discretion applied in establishing deadlines and approaches for completing own assignments.
Contribution to AT&T Technology - Carries out standard work to achieve deadlines. Contributes to maintaining current technologies and/or supports teams in emerging technologies.
Communication- Exchanges routine technical information in effective and timely manner. Actively engages with others to understand issues and gather necessary information. Presents materials/thoughts effectively one-on-one.
This position may be responsible for contributing to AT&T's compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications -
* 1-3 years experience
* CISCO and CCNA Certifications
* NETREX requires applicants receive a Bachelor's or Master's degree within the past one year.
* NETREX requires a minimum of a 3.2 GPA
Desired Qualifications -
* BS in Sciences, Operations, Engineering, Management, or Systems Integration
* Knowledge of Network Planning, Engineering, Construction and Mobility architectures
